The Il Frantoio Association presents the fourth edition of the “Capalbio Contemporary Art” show which, as every year, will be held across the spaces of Palazzo Collacchioni, the symbolic postcard building of Capalbio in Tuscany (planning a trip to the region? Curated by Davide Sarchioni, “Officine Chigiotti” is on view between August 2nd until 30th September 2020. The exhibition recounts the experience with the contemporary art of the Grosseto cultural project and presents a selection of works by the Italian artists Flavio Favelli, Mauro Staccioli, and Antonio Barbieri.
“Officine Chigiotti” concretizes the intent, shared by the Cultural Association il Frantoio and Officine Chigiotti, to activate a dialogue that links the past and present history of the peculiar territory of the Maremma with modernity and the innovative drive of contemporary art. Conceived as a dialogue between the works of the selected artists and the ancient rooms of Palazzo Collacchioni — known as the “Castle of Capalbio” — the exhibition itinerary triggers a dense network of references between territory and architecture, between past and present.
The show will be accompanied with a series of appointments, meetings and talks between the artists on display and invited curators and critics — all to be documented with a publication released by end of 2020.
Officine Chigiotti is an initiative that Giuseppe Chigiotti — architect and professor at The Polytechnic University of Milan — launched across the large spaces of his family business in the historic center of Grosseto, Tuscany. As of 2017, it has been commissioning and exhibiting works by contemporary artists.
